Nicola Harrington - guest blogger living in France with 7 holiday rental gites

Nicola Harrington

I’ve just received a phone call.

We are on for tomorrow.

All I need is a trailer, bucket, bathroom scales and a long stick.

I have a confession which I haven’t admitted to. I can’t reverse with a trailer. It all turns horribly wrong and I end up getting stuck. Then I have to unhitch the trailer. Turn the car round. Try and push / pull a heavy trailer up to the car and rehitch it. Oh no, I’ve only ever done this when the trailer has been empty.

Whenever I HAVE to take the trailer I carefully plan my route so that there is absolutely NO reversing.

How can I admit this pathetic failing to all these farm folk who have been driving and reversing tractors with HUGE trailers since they were about ten years old …..
