2 people in long sleeves shaking hands How do reserved Brits living in France manage to integrate and fit in? Is the culture shock easy to overcome, or does it prove too much for them? How do they feel about kissing people on the cheek as a greeting, for example? (that includes men!). What about the lack of discipline when it comes to queueing, a concept virtually non-existent in France? And the final straw:  unannounced neighbours popping over to borrow a cup of sugar without having been invited? The list goes on…

We’ve talked to a number of folks that express enthusiasm for exploring the local lifestyle and bemoan those who remain insular and isolated … and yet my observation is that there is often quite a gap between people’s aims and their execution.
